Configuring Google Managed Lustre

The configuration parameters on this page are exclusive to Google Managed Lustre.

Google Managed Lustre is always persistent storage, so you won't be asked to choose between Ephemeral and Persistent when you create it. After you create the storage, start it with the power button to provision the filesystem.

Please note that Google Managed Lustre measures storage in tebibytes (TiB); a tebibyte is equivalent to 1,099,511,627,776 bytes, or 1.1 terabytes (TB).

Region

Use this dropdown menu to select the region where your storage will be created. A region represents a geographic area.

Only regions in which a network has been provisioned are listed here. Contact your organization administrator to provision a network in additional regions.

Zone

Use this dropdown menu to select the zone to create the filesystem in. A zone refers to an isolated location inside a region.

We recommend that your storage zone matches the zone of the cluster you're pairing the storage with.

Performance

Use this dropdown menu to select the throughput of your filesystem. Throughput is measured in megabytes (MB) per second, per tebibyte (TiB) of storage. The options are 125 MBps/TiB, 250 MBps/TiB, 500 MBps/TiB, and 1,000 MBps/TiB.

The Performance you select determines the minimum, maximum, and increments of Capacity in TiB. Higher performance tiers allow smaller filesystems.

For more information about performance tiers, please see the Google Cloud documentation.

Capacity in TiB

Use this field and slider to select the size of your filesystem in TiB. The available range depends on the Performance you selected:

PerformanceMinimumMaximumIncrement
125 MBps/TiB72 TiB7,632 TiB72 TiB
250 MBps/TiB36 TiB3,816 TiB36 TiB
500 MBps/TiB18 TiB1,908 TiB18 TiB
1,000 MBps/TiB9 TiB954 TiB9 TiB

Please note that altering the capacity or performance will affect your estimated hourly cost.

Region, Zone, Performance, and Capacity in TiB cannot be changed while the filesystem is running. To change them, stop the storage first.
