Azure AI Foundry Provider
An Azure AI Foundry provider is provisioned by ACTIVATE in your organization's Azure infrastructure. Instead of an API key, you choose a network, a region, and a resource group, and ACTIVATE creates the Azure resources. You then deploy the models you want from the provider's details page.
Prerequisites
- The Azure AI Foundry entry is enabled in the platform's provider catalog. See Platform Setup.
- Your organization has a provisioned Azure network in ACTIVATE.
- You have a resource group to bill the provider to.
Create the Provider
- Navigate to AI > Providers.
- Click Add provider and choose Azure AI Foundry.
- Enter a Provider name.
- Choose a Network, then a Region.
- Choose a Resource group to pay for the provider.
- Click Create.
The provider appears in My providers with a live Status while ACTIVATE provisions it. Click the status to see the provisioning steps. Azure AI Foundry providers are always personal providers; the Organization-wide option isn't offered for them.
Deploy Models
Once the provider is provisioned, its Models card lists the models in the catalog for its region.
- Open the provider from AI > Providers.
- In Models, click a model to deploy it. Each deployment allocates Azure capacity and takes about 30 seconds to register.
- To remove a deployment, click a deployed model and confirm Remove deployment. This destroys the Azure AI Foundry deployment for that model, and it is no longer available on this provider until you deploy it again.
You can change the models on a provider at any time this way; there is no need to recreate the provider. Only the owner can deploy or remove models. If the card reads "No models in the catalog for this region yet.", no models are listed for that region.
The details page also shows the provider's Region and Resource group. The region is chosen at creation and can't be changed; to use a different region, create another provider.
Edit, Share, and Delete
- Edit changes the Display name and the Fold history setting.
- Manage access shares the provider once it is provisioned. See Managing Permissions.
- Delete provider removes the provider and deprovisions its Azure resources. This can't be undone.
