# pw workspace start

## pw workspace start

Start your user workspace

### Synopsis

The **pw workspace start** command starts your user workspace when it is
off, stopped, or failed. A workspace that is already running is left
untouched, and one that is already starting is not started again; use
**pw workspace restart** to restart a running workspace.

Starting recreates the workspace, so it rotates the workspace API key and
cancels any workflow runs still marked running.

The command returns once the start is requested. Use **--wait** to wait
until the workspace is running.

pw workspace start [flags]
```

### Examples

```
  # Start your workspace
  pw workspace start
  
  # Start it and wait until it is running
  pw workspace start --wait
  
  # Give up waiting after two minutes
  pw workspace start --wait --timeout 2m
```

### Options

```
  -h, --help               help for start
      --timeout duration   Give up waiting after this long (with --wait); 0 waits indefinitely (default 10m0s)
      --wait               Wait for the workspace to be running before exiting
```

### Options inherited from parent commands

```
      --context string         The context to use. Overrides PW_CONTEXT environment variable and current context from config.
      --platform-host string   The Parallel Works ACTIVATE platform host to use. Overrides PW_PLATFORM_HOST environment variable and the current context's server.
  -v, --verbose                Enable verbose logging
