## pw cluster start

Start a cluster: provision, resume or connect it

### Synopsis

The **pw cluster start** command brings a cluster up. What that means depends
on the cluster: a cloud cluster that is off is provisioned, one that is
stopped is resumed, and an existing cluster is connected. A cluster that is
already on its way up is simply followed.

On a terminal the command opens the live view and follows the provisioning
steps until the cluster is active. Pass **-o text** to return as soon as the
request is accepted, or **--wait** to block and print one line per step
instead, exiting non-zero if the cluster fails to start.

The cluster can be given as **pw://user/cluster**, **pw://cluster** or
**cluster**, where an omitted user defaults to your username.

```
pw cluster start <cluster> [flags]
```

  pw cluster start my-hpc

  # Start a cluster and return immediately
  pw cluster start -o text my-hpc

  # Start a cluster from a script, blocking until it is active
  pw cluster start --wait my-hpc

  # Print the cluster as JSON once the request is accepted
  pw cluster start -o json my-hpc
```
